Dr. Self receives Baldwin County proclamation

On March 20, 2007, Dr. Stan Self, Fairhope physician received a proclamation from the Baldwin County Commissioners at their monthly meeting in recognition of his DO A GOOD DEED CONTEST.  Self began the contest in the fall, 2006 to encourage area youths to do good things for others and be leaders.   Landon Sykora, of Daphne High School won that contest.  He was awarded a computer and printer for his winning essay.   Self stated that “we often hear about the negative things involving our young people, such as drugs and violence; we don’t always hear about the good things they are doing.”  Self feels this contest will recognize these good things and will help encourage them to make the right decisions in life.

County Commissioner, David E. Bishop presented Dr. Self with the proclamation, commending him for outstanding civic service benefiting the entire Baldwin County community.  Self was also praised for his numerous years of service in the medical community and for his many other personal accomplishments.

“This is a very unique and simple essay contest,” stated Self.  To enter the next DO A GOOD DEED CONTEST, a Baldwin County student up to age 18 must write an essay about a recent good deed and send to Dr. Self along with a cover entry form or application may be made on line by going to  www.theselfmedicalcenter.com and accessing the DO A GOOD DEED CONTEST page.  Deadline for application is April 13.  Dr. Self urged principals and teachers, who have been sent application information, to encourage their students to enter.  A winner will be chosen and notified in May and an award ceremony scheduled prior to summer break.    The winner will receive a computer and printer.
