Nutrition

Nutrition is a crucial part of the Self Center program. There are two options for nutritional intake during your weight loss program. The first option is a low calorie diet (LCD) a combination of protein supplements and low-fat food.

Second, is a very low calorie diet (VLCD) that one can take all protein supplements as meal replacements and no regular food. The protein supplements are a pharmaceutically prepared mixture of high quality proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals eaten several times a day. Close medical supervision by the physician is mandatory for this option, because weight loss is accelerated. Either option is medically sound because each has the same principle of good nutrition for weight loss.

This principle is vital. Based on research studies, one must lose weight by consuming adequate quantities of protein every day. Adequate proteins along with daily aerobic exercise may prevent muscle loss during weight loss. By preventing muscle loss, you can help prevent lowering your metabolic rate which is very important in losing weight and maintaining weight loss.
